Ultrasound in Sioux Falls

While often used interchangeably, “ultrasound” and “sonogram” actually describe different aspects of the same procedure. The entire imaging process is called “ultrasound.” A “sonogram” refers to the actual image that is created from the ultrasound process 🙂

ALL ultrasounds come with: Pregnancy confirmation, listening to and measuring the baby’s heart rate, checking the positioning of the baby, printed photos, and access to all imaging and video via Momitalk app. *If you are 6 weeks or less in pregnancy, please note that you may be too early to see a heartbeat. Pregnancy confirmation can still be obtained!

• Anytime Peace of Mind: 2D imaging. 10 minutes. 
• Gender Reveal Basic: 2D imaging. 15 minutes. 
• Gender Reveal Deluxe: 2D-5D imaging. 30 minutes.
• Prime Time: All ultrasounds in the “Prime Time” category come with 2D-5D imaging.
  • • Basic: 15 minutes
    • Deluxe: 30 minutes
    • Premium: 45 minutes (this scan is reserved for twins/triplets)

Because ultrasounds are completely noninvasive, there’s no extensive preparation required for your ultrasound in Sioux Falls.

To get the most out of your session, drink a gallon of water daily for the three days leading up to it. While you might need more bathroom breaks, the extra fluids will give us better ultrasound images.

We also want you to be aware that if you have a BMI of over 30, anterior placenta, or low amniotic fluid, this can hinder image quality.

• Things that may hinder image quality that are out of our control and may result in lower image quality: Low amount of fluid around baby, anterior placenta, BMI >30, position of baby. While we do our very best to get everyone great imaging, sometimes these things are out of our control. It’s too bad we can’t get inside to physically take a look!
• “See your baby maybe”: This is a guideline we have in place if you are 27-32 weeks and come in for a prime time scan of any kind. If we get images of only the ear, back of head,  if baby’s hands and feet are completely covering the face, or if baby is facing your back, you can come in again within 2 weeks of your original scan at no additional cost. For all other gestational ages, this guideline does not apply.
• Gender Reveals: If we are unable to see the baby’s gender the first ultrasound, you can come back again within two weeks for us to try again at no additional cost from your original scan. We will try our very best to confirm.

The gender reveal is the only one that has a requirement that the pregnancy must be 14+ weeks along. That is because week 13 is when gender develops. Anytime Peace of Mind and Prime Time scans can be done ANYTIME throughout the pregnancy. It all depends if you want black-and-white imaging versus new technology. There is a misconception that you can’t get 3D imaging until later in the pregnancy. This isn’t true! It is fun to see your baby in 3D at all stages of the pregnancy.

Our 5D sonogram is actually HD, a “high definition” sonogram.
